Happy Birthday Mom!

Alan and I had a great day! We went to Burleson to see my Mom for her birthday! She made an amazing meal and we ate hearty! I totally felt bad about my Mom fixing a meal for us on HER birthday, but she insisted. We had roast and scallopped potatoes, green bean casserole and candied yams. We also had rolls and mint chocolate ice cream cake. YUMMY!

We gave Mom a nice pair of pajamas and bath and body works products. Plus, I threw in a bunch of other cool stuff like notecards, stickers and candy.

Mom had never seen our wedding video either, so I took it over there today and we all watched it and boo hooed! My wedding day was the absolute best day of my life and it was so cool to relive it and watch it with Alan, Mom and Bill.
Here is a picture of my Mom!

Prayers Please

I can't explain it. I awoke today thinking that something just wasn't right or that something was undoubtedly going to happen today...something not good. I went about my day and did my normal routine making sure Alan's lunch is packed and doing laundry, watched Bold and the Beautiful, went over some notes for names I'm thinking of using in my book, made the bed, checked e-mail, etc.

Around 2 o'clock a large storm ensues. The wind was up so high that it was rattling our windows, our weather alarm went off and I could hear sirens going off outside. We lost satellite and I was having a hard time getting my cell phone to dial out. I thought that this must be the "bad thing" that was going to happen today. Turns out that the storms would last into the evening but weren't as severe as I expected.

Alan got home from work and we decided to go grab a quick bite to eat at Jack in the Box. We had a coupon that I didn't want to expire and I really didn't want to cook tonight anyway. We ate and then went to Walgreens to buy birthday gifts for my sister in laws, Chanda and Krisha. We have 9 birthdays in May in our family. Whew!

When we got home, I realized I had left my cell phone at home while we were out. I noticed a missed call. It was from my Dad. I don't hear from my father that often. I knew I needed to call him back immediately. I was about to realize that the worries I had earlier were in fact warranted.

Dad told me that he needs to have surgery on Monday that will require hospital stay. I would like to request prayers from you all right now. I need you, prayer warriors!
Please pray for me and my Dad.

Thank you!!!

Totally Random

Ok, so I feel the need to talk about a couple of things today. First of all, I'd like to wish all of my blogging besties a belated Happy Mothers Day. I love y'all!

Next on the list is something that actually happened last Friday, but I am just now getting around to talking about it. I had to go to the doctor on Friday. Nothing crazy just a little high blood pressure from time to time. The waiting room at the doctor's office always makes for interesting people watching doesn't it? Needless to say, I was not disappointed with the characters in the waiting area on Friday. Let me fill you in on what I'm talking about...

Character #1 and #2
A guy and girl making out about 3 feet away from me. Yep, I said making out. In between sucking face, I overheard the girl thank this guy for letting her come to the doctor with him. He laughed and said it was perfect and the wife would never know. NICE. What a fun place to cheat. The doctors office waiting area. SO SAD.

Character #3
A woman walked in with hair down to her knees. I'm not even kidding. She was totally sporting the Crystal Gayle look. (If you don't know who that is, she is a singer from the 70s and 80s with REALLY long hair.)You don't see that everyday. Just sayin.

Character #4
A man with really short hair and a tail in the back. Why? Why would someone have a tail? I totally do not understand this and never will. If this visual wasn't enough for you, let me add to it... The tail boy sat right across from me, so fortunately I didn't have to look at the tail, but I guess out of complete boredom, tailboy begins to pick a scab. He was really working on it and even made eye contact with me while picking the scab. I wonder if he saw the horror on my face? EWWWWWWWWW!

This is a really reputable doctor, too. I don't know what was going on in there on Friday. Crazy.

On a different note, did anyone else see Saturday Night Live this weekend? I do not normally watch this show, but I just had to DVR it because of the host. I totally love Betty White! She was hilarious and did not disappoint. If you didn't watch it, you'll have to youtube it or something.

Also, is anyone else watching Cougar Town? This is comedy heaven! Aside from The Office, it's my favorite sitcom on tv right now. I haven't been this excited about a sitcom since Friends. It's so good. You have to watch.

Alan and I saw Iron Man 2 this weekend and it rocked!! Alan loved it so much that he wanted to go see it again.

Ok...that's all for now. Laundry is calling my name. :)

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

My Mom and I are taking off in the morning on a road trip thrifting adventure! I am so stinkin excited about it!!! My Mom and I both love thrift stores so much and we try to go as often as we can. Since I only see my mom about once a month, I am extra excited to see her and spend some quality time with her. We are headed to East Texas and into Louisiana. YAY!!!!

I am trying to get my husband situated before we leave in the morning. I need to make sure he has lunches and dinner! I am pre-packing his lunches for work and I made a couple of casseroles for him to eat on while I'm away. Alan is not big on thrift stores, but he doesn't mind me going because he knows I can get good deals and I usually don't spend a lot of money.

So wish us luck on our adventure! Ready or not thrift stores, here we come!!!!!
