This Texas Weather

One day I'm wearing a short sleeve shirt, the next day I'm wearing a winter coat. One day I'm wearing flip flops, the next day I'm wearing mittens and a scarf. I swear, this is how people get sick going from hot to cold, hot to cold. And now it's a rainy mess with possible sleet and snow in the forecast. Erg.

I really want the weather to cooperate because I have a wonderful day planned tomorrow with my Mom. I don't get to see my Mom that often and I am super excited. We plan to go do some major thrifting, have a nice lunch and just spend some quality time together. We made plans for this weekend because Alan and I are busy the next 3 weekends. Next weekend is Superbowl...GO SAINTS, then the next weekend is Valentines and the following weekend is our one year anniversary.

By the way, any ideas on what to get the hubs for a one year anniversary gift? He'd probably appreciate anything, but I wanted to do something special for him. He's so good to me.

I've already packed a little goodie bag for my Mom. I always give her presents everytime I see her, I love doing that. She is the best Mom! Wish us luck in our thrifting adventures tomorrow and hopefully this weather will calm down.

Also, super excited for happy mail this month. Hi Carol and Haley! Looking forward to getting to know you! And thank you Jamie for heading up Happy Mail for all of us.

Too Cool

I was just looking at some movies on Amazon.com and I found something that is very fitting and simply had to post this on my blog.

You all know I love 80's! I recently had a post about my favorite 80's movies and of course today, I had the post about that nutcase that was stalking me on facebook. I am still laughing about her stupid e-mails.

Well, look what I found. Isn't this perfect for me?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Have a good night everyone!

Facebook etiquette

Hey everyone! I have a quick issue that I need to talk about please.

It's called Facebook.

I love Facebook, used to love MySpace, now it's Facebook. Next year it will probably be something else, but right now it's Facebook.

Ok, so, here's the dealio.

I really don't like to accept friend requests from every Tom, Dick and Harry. In fact, I only have a few friends on Facebook that I do not actually know in "real life" and those girls are my friends I've made through blogland. So, technically they are not real life friends, but they are indeed real friends. But, I digress.

OK, there was a friend request the other day that I honestly from the bottom of my soul do not know who they are. No clue, not even a little bit. I saw the friend request and decided to think about it and maybe I would remember who they were later. You girls know that I've been busy and had freaking cramps this week and it's just been crazy, so I haven't done a whole lot of facebooking.

Yesterday I got a message from this person saying that "just in case I don't remember them, that we went to high school together and they always wanted to be my friend." I'm like, that's pretty sweet, but I was kinda creeped out by it at the same time.

My facebook emails come through yahoo so I don't necessarily have to be on facebook to check my mail. I read her e-mail and thought ok, I guess I'll accept her friend request next time I'm on facebook. I really was going to accept it. I got on facebook a few times yesterday very briefly to talk to a couple of people and even sent a friend request of my own. Thanks for accepting, Carrie. :)But, for whatever reason I forgot to accept that dang request again.

Today, I received yet another email from this eager beaver wondering why I hadn't accepted her as a friend and wondering if and I quote, "Do you think you're too cool for school?" Um. No, I don't think "I'm too cool for school." Whatever that means.

What now? Do I accept this person as a friend so that they don't think I'm a snob?

I seriously don't know this person or remember them AT ALL. She went on to say in the last email that she hopes I accept her soon. I feel like she's all stalky stalkerson all of the sudden. Am I being stupid?

Just so you know, if I sent a friend request to someone and they didn't accept it, I wouldn't give a crap.

Let's Go to the Movies...80's style

Well, I have posted 80's cartoons and tv shows, so why not movies, too? I love way back when posts so here are a few of the movies that I loved when I was growing up. Have fun going down memory lane.

I love these movies so much! Which movies do you remember?

Guess I'm still lucky

Hey everyone! I have been out of commission for a couple of days, sorry!

Guess what? I won another giveaway and I just can't believe it. I seriously am not this lucky. Ever.

I won a fantabulous 2010 planner from Laura@ A Ray of Sunshine. It is awesome and I am so excited about it. I tried to post a picture of it, but for some reason I can't post it. I will definetly post a picture of the planner once I have it in hand.

THANK YOU LAURA!!!!

Speaking of giveaways, you must check out my dear friend Meg's blog Twisted Tree. She is having a super giveaway with all kinds of goodies.

I am still trying to catch up on chores and some writing that I've had to postpone so I'll catch up with you all later.

I'm going to try to do a fun post later tonight. I was inspired by Christy Carter at What a Butterfly Might Say.

TV Time

My husband and I were talking about tv shows today so I thought I would add a list of my favorite tv shows from back in the day. Seems appropriate to keep going with the theme from yesterday...my favorite theme of all time...THE 80's!!!!

So, here are some of my favorite tv shows from back in the day...in no particular order of course.

Well, those are the ones I remember off the top of my head. Hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane. What shows do you remember from your childhood?

Back in the Day

I saw something the other day that reminded me so much of my childhood. Do you remember when Saturday morning cartoons were awesome? I can remember getting up at 7am and running into the living room to turn on the tv for some Saturday morning fun complete with Count Chocula or Lucky Charms no doubt.

Here are my favorite cartoons (top 5)

What are your favorite cartoons from back in the day?

Never in my life

Um, you will never believe what happened to me today. My husband and I always (almost always) go to the post office together just because we're running errands or whatever. Well, today I went to the post office alone and wouldn't you know it, something happened. Something big. Something crazy. It was one of those moments that you really wish someone was with you so that they will believe your story kind of thing. So here goes...

Normally I print my postage at home and then just drop it off it the chute, but I had to stand in line today. I walk into the post office and the line is like crazy long, but what are you gonna do? So, I am patiently waiting my turn unlike a gentlemen (and I use that word very loosely) a couple of people ahead of me. It was very evident that this mans patience was wearing very thin waiting in that long line. He kept sighing really loud and making faces and shuffling his feet, you get the picture. All of the sudden he starts YELLING, "WHEN IS ANYONE GONNA HELP ME?" I mean screaming. I kind of felt like I was on candid camera or something like this cannot be happening.

Finally he gets called and the postal worker asks how she can help him and this man busts out with a folder full of complaint letters he's written to the post office and he DEMANDS to be heard. He was OUT OF CONTROL so much that I felt like he could've been packing heat. I just knew he was about to whip out a gun and was wondering if I should duck and cover. At first everyone in line was kind of giggling and rolling their eyes like whatever, but after awhile you could see the fear settling in. This man was on a mission and it was very scary. I'm not just talking about yelling, he was screaming bloody murder. Dude! Seriously?

I'm a cleaning machine

Good Lord I'm tired! I have been on a cleaning streak. You know once you get started you can't stop? That's what happened to me. I normally keep a pretty clean house but I still had a few Christmas items hanging around and I knew I wanted to put those away. Then I noticed a spot on the kitchen counter so I decided to clean the entire kitchen and clean out the fridge. I washed some dishes, mopped the floor, unloaded the dishwasher, got the trash ready for Alan to take out, and then I made chicken spaghetti.

If that wasn't enough, I then decided to clean our master bathroom. I had no idea how many lotions I had from Bath and Body Works that I don't use. I did a major "have I used this is the last year, do I really want to keep this" routine and decided to clear out many products. Do any of you have shower gels and body lotions that just sit in the bathroom never touched?

I am so proud of myself because I went to Wal-Mart and bought a ton of those storage containers with the pull out drawers to store all of my craft items. I now have a little craft corner that is all neat and organized. I will have to take a picture of it. Mind you, it is nothing compared to Jamie's craft room or Lindsays's craft room but hey it's something and at least it's not scattered all over our home anymore. I have drawers for yarn and string, stickers, cards and stationery, pipe cleaners, stencils, foam sheets, fabric, ribbon...you get the point. I am so excited. Aren't rooms so much happier when they are clean?

I'll be honest with you, another reason for my cleaning spree is because my Mom is coming tomorrow. I haven't seen her since Christmas Day. I know that's not too terribly long, but I do miss her and she hasn't been to my house in awhile. My mother is the ultimate perfectionist when it comes to a clean home. Her house looks like it came straight out of Better Homes and Gardens. Anyway, I just want her to be proud of me. I never get tired of getting praise from my mother.

We are going thrifting tomorrow. Woohoo!!!! Then Mom wants to take Alan out to eat for his birthday. His birthday was a couple of weeks ago, but she wasn't able to see him then, so she is graciously taking us out for a belated lunch. We always have a blast together when we hit the thrift stores. Wish us luck.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my good friend MEG! Love you girl! Hope you have a great day tomorrow! You are a doll!

Good night friends.

My head hurts...

So, I don't really have anything profound to say today. I started to have a minor headache last night and when I awoke today it had transformed into a killer headache. I have never had a migraine before, but I am beginning to wonder if this indeed is a migraine headache.

My sweet husband took me to lunch at El Fenix today and I couldn't even hardly eat. My head was pounding with every CRUNCH of the tortilla chips. I brought a doggy bag home for later though because I couldn't let that yummy food go to waste. Afterwards, we stopped by Wal-Mart so I could pick up some Tide, wheat thins, construction paper, glue sticks, Secret deodorant in cocoa butter scent, and a rainbow assortment of markers. Isn't it fun to know what's on a person's grocery list? I happened to get a cart that was wobbly and the wheels squeaked. Dang it. Normally, I would take that sucker back and get another cart; however, I was pressed for time. With every thump, thump, thump, and squeak, squeak, squeak my head was doing the same. Ugh!

Then, one of the Wal-Mart employees stopped me to ask if I'd like to apply for a
Wal-Mart credit card. She said if I sign up for a credit card then I can get a free cupcake today. Seriously? I mean really. A cupcake? Is that the best you can do? I politely turned her down and headed for the checkout counter only to be asked once again if I'd like to open up a Wal-Mart credit card. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Anyway, I am excited about making Valentines cards now that I have my supplies. I just may have to wait a little while because this headache is about to kill me.

Oh, and I received a really great HAPPY MAIL letter today from Melissa. Thank you very much. You really did help brighten my day. I love the map of Brooklyn, NY. You are such a sweetie.

Moments

I have been feeling extremely blessed lately and so proud of my accomplishments thus far in my life. It's very interesting to stop and think and take a long, hard look at your life...more specifically the actual moments in our lives. Sure, the most profound moments (at least for me) are college graduation and the day I got married and eventually the births of my children. However, I'm referring to the small moments that we take for granted, the moments that give us an extra spring in our step, the moments that make our hearts sing!

These are a few of the moments that give me happiness, enjoyment and simply leave me in good spirit...

~When my husband tells me he loves me
~When my parents tell me they are proud of me
~When someone tells me I have pretty handwriting
~When I get a text message
~When the Christmas holiday season approaches
~When I find a long lost friend on Facebook
~When I make a new friend through my blog
~When I find money in my purse that I forgot I had
~When I find a great deal on e-bay
~The first bite of an ice cream cone
~When someone tells me I've made a difference in their lives
~When my husband says "Mmmm" to my cooking
~When I see my Mom or Dad after not seeing them for awhile
~When I have a dream about my grandmother
~When I have a really good hair day
~When I find something vintage or a fabulous antique
~When someone asks me about college when I'm wearing a Baylor sweatshirt
~Having a lazy Sunday
~When someone asks me what perfume I am wearing
~Looking through old photo albums
~Finishing a good book
~When I look at my husband across the room and we smile at each other

I look forward to many more special moments that touch my heart; for, it's those precious times of significance that make our lives worthwhile. It is amazing where we've been, where we are and where we will go.

What do you remember?

Hey everybody! I was just reading my friend, Lindsays blog and I felt inspired to share a couple of photos with you.

Most of you know I married the love of my life last February (I can't believe our anniversary is coming up!!) Alan really is my best friend and everything I could ever want in a husband. When we got married, we had a little slide show of photos at our reception and I want to share a couple of those slide show pictures with you now.

This is a picture of Alan and I both as kids sitting on Santa's lap. Notice our haircuts? haha

This is another picture of Alan and I when we were little kids. Look at our big smiles!

Aren't we just the perfect pair? I sure think so!

It is no wonder that I love the late 70's and 80's because there were so many cool things that I remember about growing up then. I loved watching Punky Brewster and The Facts of Life. I remember loving Duran Duran and Cyndi Lauper. I loved playing with my Cabbage Patch Kid and Barbies in my Strawberry Shortcake bedroom.
I loved doubling my neon colored socks and making friendship pins and wearing jelly shoes. I loved Maybelline Kissing Coolers in Watermelon flavor and pulling my hair back in a banana clip. I could go on and on.

What great memories do you have of growing up?

NEW blog title

Hi everyone. Still trying out new things on my blog. I have a vision of what I want my blog to look like and I'm not sure it's quite there yet. Anyway...It's still the same ole me, just a different blog title. One to suit me a little bit better. I figure since I write books and I definitely get writers block, that this title fits me perfectly! "The Writer's Block"...Welcome to my Neighborhood friends!

I have a confession

You will never believe what I've been doing for the past 30 minutes or so. I'm really embarrassed to tell you the truth. For the past half hour I have been

Watching clips of Solid Gold on You Tube

Most of you probably don't know what Solid Gold is or who the Solid Gold dancers are and that's ok, I'm just showing my age. haha
I used to love, love this show when I was a little girl and you all know I love the 80's music. I just got caught up in it.

I remember really liking that movie "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" with Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker because it had Dance TV which was similar to Solid Gold.

Oh the 80's, the clothes, the hair, the makeup, the music...What a great time to grow up!

Sorry if y'all think I'm a nerd now.

Bachelor Review PLUS a few extras...

The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love

I'm not sure what to think about last night's show. Does Jake seem to be a little desperate to you? I find him to be a cross between cute and kinda creepy. Did they really have to being back Jillian and her smarmy fiance, Ed? Ew. That guy makes me want to vomit.
Okay~lets's talk about the women! A few of them are worth mentioning for different reasons...
Christina~ Ok. Seriously woman. Why would you bring all of those "parting gifts" for everyone? And she kept saying she was going to win in front of everyone like she had absolutely no couth. Not cool.

Rozlyn~ Yes, she is very attractive and she is a model...Whatevs. The main thing I got from her was a feeling that she thinks she's better that all the other girls. That's not going to get her very far in my opinion.

Tenley~ I really liked her! I actually had a feeling she would get the first impression rose and she did. I hope she does well this season.

Elizabeth~ Stunning!

Ella~ Seems like a sweet Southern girl.

Michelle~ This one is a real whacko! Sure, she's attractive and seems sweet, but she's off her rocker for sure. Jake only handed her a rose for tv ratings. I'm positive this drama queen will shake things up.

As always, at the end of the program, they show clips and teasers from "this season on The Bachelor" in hopes that you will continue to tune in each week and watch the most dramatic rose ceremony EVER. I'll tune in next week, but I sure hope the rest of this season doesn't turn out as cheesy as this episode was! Seriously!

In other news, Alan and I have been watching Joe Schmo 2. We got it on DVD at Target for $3.00 for the entire season. This show is hilarious albeit a little inappropriate. Well, a lot inappropriate, but we laugh constantly at this show.
Hey, don't judge! All of our other shows like The Office, Smallville, Melrose, etc. are all in reruns so we are making do.

I forgot to tell you that we received a Dyson vacuum cleaner for Christmas and it is a whole lotta amazing! This sucker can clean! We did a vacuum cleaner clean off between our old vacuum and our new Dyson and the Dyson won hands down!!!! SO excited. It is so crazy the things I get excited about these days.

Bachelor Tonight!!!!

Hi everyone. How is 2010 treating y'all so far? We are doing fantastic. We celebrated Alan's birthday yesterday and took down all the Christmas decorations. Alan surprised me with "Time Life's Ultimate 70's and Ultimate 80's" CD sets. AWESOME! Nothing like doing a little cleaning or cooking to some Journey or Hall and Oates. Also, since the Cowboys won yesterday, Alan and I will be going to a Dallas playoff game this Saturday. I just love going to Cowboys games plus it's a great "date night."

I am going to be working very diligently this week on the book so wish me luck. I'm not writing today because I'm still trying to get things in order around here. I can't seem to get as much done when Alan is home. We are either on the road, or busy doing something and my chores fall by the wayside. I am doing my best to get everything that I want accomplished done before The Bachelor comes on tonight. Can't wait.

*Don't forget to watch The Bachelor tonight so we can talk about it!!!* YAY!

You Say it's Your Birthday, It's My Husbands Bday too!

I have had such a fantastic long weekend with my sweet hubby. We went to visit my Dad and stepmom on Friday and had our last Christmas finally. It was really great seeing them. It's ridiculous that we don't see them more often but I guess everyone is busy and life gets in the way. I want to make a conscience effort to try to visit my Dad more often this year.

Saturday was spent shopping. We love to e-bay so finding bargains is so fun for us. We were out hunting for deals for almost 8 hours. Whew, that was tiring. Before coming home, we decided to go out to eat at Fridays. Yum.

Today is Alan's birthday and he spent the majority of the day watching football. I didn't even make him help out with chores today or ask him to do any "honey do's". This was his day off. He did help me take down our Christmas tree without me even having to ask him though. How nice. So, now all of our Christmas decor is down. :(
I strongly dislike taking all the Christmas decorations down because I just love the Christmas season. Incidentally, I found some great Christmas items 75% off yesterday while out shopping!!!

SO EXCITED about tomorrow night because The Bachelor returns to ABC. This particular bachelor is from Dallas! Woohoo Go Cowboys! (They won today by the way!) And, American Idol will be back in just a few days. Heaven I tell you.
