Let me tell you about my day yesterday. It was horrible. I am still trying to get rid of whatever is still lingering in my body. I've had a terrible sore throat and cough as well as body aches. Sucks.
Anyway, I really wanted to get out of the house because I was starting to go stir crazy. Alan and I remembered that we had received a gift card for Christmas from my Mom to Subway so we decided to go grab a quick bite to eat.
We arrive at a Subway sandwich shop that's not too far from where we live and go on inside to place our orders. We both got $5 footlongs even though I can't possibly eat it all, but I can save it for later. We asked for the combo so we could also have chips and a beverage. The cashier rings up our food order and tells us the total will be $15.12. Perfect. Our gift card was for $15.00 so we handed her the gift card plus 12 cents in change.
She swiped the gift card and could read that there was indeed $15 on the card and that the card was valid. She said that although the card is valid that she wouldn't be able to accept the gift card at this time.
WHAT? WHY NOT?
She said her credit card machine was offline. OK, fine, your credit card machine is temporarily offline. What does that have to do with our gift card? You just told me that it is valid. Our order cost was $15.12. Keep the darn gift card plus our 12 cents and give us our sandwiches. It's not like we are trying to steal from you. I tried to explain that she's already seen that our card is valid and that it's just like cash. Alan pulls out his wallet and begins to give her money and I said no way Jose. What ever happened to good old fashioned customer service? She's just going to end up throwing our sandwiches away. No one else would want our order.
We ended up going to a different Subway location a bit further from where we live, but with much better customer service. Thankfully.
Do you think our day got better from here on out?
Nope.
We ran a couple of more errands and I told Alan I was wearing out. I still wasn't feeling the best in the world. However, I wanted to make one more stop to Half Price Books. Alan decided to wait in the truck while I went inside to look around. I wasn't in there long, maybe 10 minutes. I purchased one book and started out the door to find where Alan had parked.
As I'm checking both ways before I cross the parking lot, I see my husband talking to someone through their passenger side window. I thought it was someone he knew from work or a friend he hadn't seen in awhile. The closer I get to the vehicle, I notice that my husband does not look happy. Then I hear the woman behind the vehicle screaming at my husband. What the hell?
I said what is going on? Alan says this woman hit our truck while she was backing out and took off. She has no idea Alan was sitting in the vehicle. Alan immediately got out of the truck and chased her down. Later, he tells me that he didn't have time to assess any damages because he needed to get her license plate.
She said she didn't hit our car and peeled out. Alan held up his phone to take a picture of her license plate but he has a new phone and quite honestly he wasn't sure how to take the darn picture. At that point, he tells me to remember her plates. She comes whirling back around into the parking lot and starts screaming at us because she saw Alan attempting to take a picture of her SUV. Guilty much lady?
She said if we take a picture of her car, then she wants to take a picture of ours. We were finally able to check out the back of the truck and thank goodness there wasn't any damage. She kept saying that she was a good person and I said, "Well, you may be a good person but you backed into our vehicle and took off not knowing if you left us with any damage or not."
After a few rounds of he said/she said, we finally left the parking lot; however, I had a bad feeling about that lady and felt like we needed to call the police and report it. If she's hitting peoples cars and taking off, then she could do it again and now she had our license plates. I didn't want her to have another accident and then blame it on us. You can never be too careful you know?
All in all, nothing really horrible happened yesterday except bad customer service and an abundance of rudeness.

Wow! What a day! Sorry that happened. Did you end up calling the police? I would have...
Oh what a terrible day! Hopefully today was much better for you!
What is wrong with people these days?!?! I used to work at Subway when I was 16 and all you have to do is take the card and simply write a note and attach it to the card, then put it in the darn cash register!! As for that woman, WHOOAAA! She must have been a little nuts to just take off like that, then to come back and freak out on you 2?!?! I hope you had a better day today though and no weirdos!!
I have had been in this same situation... I called the cops.
