I logged onto Blogger today and this is what greeted me...

Hi!
I like your blog, but have you considered changing the name? I found you while looking for blogs on writing and while I enjoy your posts, the don't have anything to do with writing or writer's block. Just a humble suggestion.

I'd like to start off by saying thank you to the anonymous reader for saying that you do in fact like my blog even though you don't like the title. I chose the name for my blog simply because I am a journalist. I thought "The Writer's Block" was catchy for the following reasons...
A. I am a writer.
B. This is my personal space (my neighborhood if you will)

Get it? The Writer's Block? It even states "Welcome to my Neighborhood!"

My intended purpose for this blog was to write about whatever came to mind on that particular day whether it be 80s memorabilia or something going on with my family life.

I am not an avid blogger because I have too many other responsibilies and my writing schedule does not permit me to post as much as I'd like.

I thought the name of my blog was kind of catchy and I was hoping my readers would understand that the title is tongue in cheek. I would never suggest someone change the name of their blog because it didn't flow with the content in my opinion.

I'm going to borrow some of my friend's blog names for just a moment to make a point...

Megan's Blog is called Twisted Tree ~ She doesn't blog about trees.

Lindsay's Blog is called Pixies and Bears ~ She doesn't blog about pixies and fairydust although she does blog a lot about bears... hmmmm. Bad example.

Tiffany's Blog is called Dreams Do Come True ~ She doesn't blog about granting people wishes all the time.

I think you get my point... While I appreciate your opinion, I hope I am clear as to why I chose the name in the first place.

Most of my friends know that I have talked about starting another blog completely devoted to my love for all things 80s. I haven't done this simply because I don't have enough time for this blog much less another one.

I really like my blog name. I am proud of the accomplishments I've made through writing and I've set my goals high for my future in journalism.

Does anyone else think I should change the name of my blog?

Like I said in my previous comment on the previous post, I think that the name of your blog is PERFECT, and it is YOUR blog! I know that when you decide to start a blog that you have given "everyone" the right to read and comment on your blog, but it is THAT person's choice to read it and I don't think they should ask you to change something about you or your own personal blog.
FYI: I just googled "blogs about writing" and "blogs about writers" and I didn't find THIS blog in the 10 pages I looked at, and I doubt if I continued to look at the 70,000,000 pages that I probably wouldn't.
Okay, I'm done now!
xoxo~Meg
P.S. I am not going to blog about only trees, that would be a little boring!

Ugh, people have entirely too much nerve (& time on their hands)! What the heck is wrong with them?!?!?!

Your blog name is PERFECT. Those who regularly read your blog, "get it".

It's your blog! If you wanted to name it "Football and Frogs" and blog about ballerinas and fishing poles then you can. Geez, people.

P.S. I liked your examples much better. ;) Especially Linds' "bear" comment. lol

your name is you, and I LOVE IT! Since I have already pissed people off with what I have said today, why stop now...?

Dear Mr./Mrs. Anonymous Reader,
Have you ever thought about going public and showing who you are. How can you write to someone about changing the name of their blog when you can't even use your real name. HA!

I say if you are going to say it dont be ashamed of who you are for saying it. ;) Come on over to my blog and join my anonymous readers and tell me how my grammar isn't perfect.

Hi. I've been lurking around your blog for a while. I used to allow anonymous posts on one of my blogs and finally changed it because I found that most anonymous posters are either just passing through and have no real idea what the blog is about or they're trolls looking to start arguments. Either way, they aren't worth our time.

Perfect name DO NOT CHANGE IT--:D They need to mind their own business.

now lets see if I can fill in the blank--Mercedes boy? just giving it a stab in the dark. Not one of my fave songs but I do remember it. I am listening to Phil Collins ( well that is what is on at the moment) the song is Tke me home. Now the Clash is on Rock the Casbah---:D

No, of course, keep your blog name. You can name your blog any old thing you want!!! The point is, it is YOUR blog. I am sure the anonymous commenter meant her (or his) suggestion in the kindest way possible, but frankly I am always suspicious of anonymous commenters because a) why are they anonymous? and b) they often hide behind their anonymity to say the absolute meanest things. While I don't think this commenter was particularly mean, I don't think the comment was necessary. I mean, do you walk up to somebody and tell them they should change the name of their dog or cat or child just because you think they should??? Jeesh--everyone has an opinion on something.
Keep the blog name, Kristie!
Love ya!
