I've told this story to a couple of people, but here it is for the rest of you guys. When I was a little girl, my Mom frowned upon me viewing cable tv especially MTV. Well, one night I sneaked out of bed and into the living room to watch some videos on MTV. (Yep, they actually aired videos back then.) I kept looking back to see if my Mom was coming because I didn't want to get in trouble. I probably watched videos for about an hour and finally got tired. I went back to bed only to wake up after having a terrible nightmare. Turns out the 7 year old in me couldn't quite handle Dee Snider and the "We're Not Gonna Take It" Twisted Sister video. This pretty much solidified Mom's NO MTV RULE.

I can remember REALLY wanting to go to 2 specific concerts when I was in the 6th grade. I remember begging my Mom and Dad to let me go to Bon Jovi and Poison, but there was no way in hell my parents were going to let me go. I was only 12 years old and my parents didn't care for "that loud heavy metal mumbo jumbo being sung by those guys who are all made up." I think it's hilarious that Mom thought Bon Jovi and Poison were heavy metal bands. When I think of heavy metal, I think of Metallica or Iron Maiden not Bon Jovi.

A couple more of my favorite 80s hair bands or glam rock bands if you will...

Can you guess the bands above? One more follower and I'll have another giveaway! :)

I love the 80's Hair Bands!
And those would be Motley Crue (My fave, followed by Poison) and Whitesnake, right?
I also liked Winger, Cinderella, and some RATT...and can't forget Aerosmith, Guns N Roses, and Warrent
And I am 100% with you, I didn't consider them heavy metal. I left that for Iron Maiden, Slayer, Metallica.
I actually got to go to a Poison concert in the 90's, they toured with Slaughter! I loved pretty much any hair band from the 90's...I still listen to some of it! I guess I was into heavy metal too, I saw Metallica in concert as well! Love ya!
